Aloe tree (agave) - useful and medicinal properties, application; runnik, alliance
Every good housewife should have a pot with an agave on the windowsill. Just in case of emergency: a burn, a cut, an abrasion ... But you never know what can happen to the household! And aloe is a whole pharmacy, it helps from various troubles. It is not for nothing that one of the popular names for the agave is runnik, that is, the healer of wounds. The virtues of aloe, which made it a popular healing and cosmetic remedy three thousand years ago, have not lost their wonderful qualities today. Why is the agave so valuable?
Centenary, rannik, alliance or aloe arboreal
The scientific name is Aloe arborescens, an evergreen plant of the Asphodelic family. In nature, it grows up to 4-5m in height, in room conditions - no higher than a meter. The stem is erect, branched, the leaves are linear-lanceolate, xiphoid, bluish-green in color, smooth, fleshy, prickly-toothed along the edge, reaching 65 cm in length, and up to 15 cm in width at the trunk. Leaves form rosettes up to 80cm in diameter. The root system is fibrous, highly branched. In natural conditions, it blooms extremely rarely (agave - because it blooms once every hundred years), in the house - almost never.
Homeland - southern Africa and its east coast. Historians claim that even in ancient Egypt, aloe was part of the liquid for embalming the dead, and Cleopatra successfully used it for skin and hair care. The plant was popular in Ancient Greece, India, and the Roman Empire. Avicenna himself prepared his medicines on the basis of the juice of this type of aloe. The aloe tree was introduced to Europe by the Arabs at the very beginning of the 18th century, and almost immediately it won an honorable place among all known medicinal plants and still occupies it.
Useful properties of aloe tree
As a raw material for the pharmaceutical industry, the lower and middle leaves of a plant with a width of 1.5 cm are used, juice is extracted from them, which, in turn, is evaporated until crystals remain, from which sabur powder is made, used to make syrups , extracts and other dosage forms. Sabur itself in large doses has a strong laxative effect, in small quantities it is used to stimulate appetite. But the beneficial properties of aloe do not end there.
The range of application of aloe tree in traditional medicine is very wide. There are, of course, contraindications to the use of aloe. For example, it is not recommended to use preparations with aloe for pregnant women, those who have liver and gallbladder diseases, as well as with hemorrhoidal and uterine bleeding. The jungle screamed, they sang incessantly, the lianas were ringing the bells,
Upside down - parrots teased hanging monkeys upside down.
Round dances of vapors spun. The serpent flowed, the woody sap sloshed,
And blazed - a fragrant genius of flowers - aloe there is a monstrous flower.
A girl was walking: she turned away the vines, her black eyes flickered white.
I noticed the aloe, I broke it off. Only dew sprayed with fireworks.
Nose ring nodding thoughtfully, lilac stretching his mouth
And cutting off the giant's petals, she wondered aloud: will he come or will not come?
Doesn't love, love? .. Oh! endure such another flower - there is no great grief.
Any flower, but not aloe: after all, it blooms only once! In a hundred years.

Herbs for kids names
Remembering my childhood, I understand that it is best for the first acquaintance of a child with the world of plants through observation. After all, each of us sometimes wants to be a sorcerer? Young children are not interested in names, they relate to things on a visual and sensory level, the adult need to name and sort everything comes later. And it is precisely this feature of children's perception of the world that is the key to effective acquaintance with herbs at an early age.
And although some children still strive to learn the "name" of this or that plant, true acceptance of it most often occurs with the help of the senses. How does it smell?
What color are its flowers? How do its leaves feel to the touch? Last summer, we watched together as the giant sunflower that grew in the garden of our old house traveled from east to west every day, following the sun.
This summer, the son begins to notice how mint sprouts are spreading, trying to "escape" from the pot. Every year, picking strawberries in summer, he sees apple ovaries, which in the fall will beckon us with their red barrels, and we will go to harvest their juicy harvest.
