Garlic tincture

To obtain it, you need to place 300 grams of peeled garlic in a half-liter jar with a tight-fitting lid and pour vodka to the top. Insist for at least three weeks in a dark place, regularly shaking the jar with the contents.

It is recommended to take this tincture 20 drops every day, diluting it in half a glass of warm milk. Such a remedy helps to cleanse blood vessels, stomach, reduces blood pressure, relieves cerebral spasms.

Garlic is peeled and washed, dried, and then crushed with a wooden pestle in a wooden mortar.

To obtain the elixir, 350 g of garlic is crushed, and this crushed mass is placed in a glass bottle, preferably dark in color. Then 200 ml of alcohol (70%) is poured there. The bottle is sealed and placed in a cool and dark place for 10 days. Then the liquid is filtered, the precipitate is wrung out, and the elixir is infused in the same bottle for about a week. After the end of the infusion, this elixir is taken according to a rather complicated scheme with an increase and then a decrease in the number of drops per dose.

The scheme is something like this: drink the filtered elixir, starting with 1 drop, diluting it in a tablespoon of milk three times a day before meals. On the first day, drink 1 drop for breakfast, two for lunch, and three for dinner. On the following days, the dose is increased by a drop for each meal, and after the fifth day, when the intake is 15 drops in the evening, they begin to reduce the rate by the same drop.

Starting from the eleventh day, use 25 drops a day until the elixir runs out.

It is recommended to repeat this course of treatment no earlier than after five years. There is also a simpler regimen for taking this medication. It is for those who do not have time to count the drops. It is recommended to drink 5 drops of the elixir three times a day, diluting them in 50 ml of milk.

  • dug tubers must be dried for 5 to 9 hours in the fresh air. Do not dry in wet weather, only dry and sunny
  • drying is best done in a greenhouse if it can be ventilated. It makes no sense to start storing garlic without preliminary drying, because it accumulates unnecessary moisture
  • after drying, you need to remove the roots. It is better to leave about 3 mm, more is possible. If the roots are removed and the bulb is damaged, it cannot be preserved.

For long-term storage, cool and dry air is required. Excessive moisture in the air is the sure death of garlic. Therefore, it is better to refuse storage in the basement.


Botanical features of garlic

Garlic is an annual herb. In culture, two groups of garlic varieties are distinguished - spring and winter. Winter varieties are subdivided into arrow and non-arrow. Garlic reproduces vegetatively. Shooting garlic varieties are propagated by air bulbs (bulbs) and chives. Non-shooting, winter varieties and spring varieties - only with cloves.

When propagated by chives, in the very first year, a full-fledged head of garlic is obtained (a bulb divided into chives). When planting bulbs (air bulbs), small one-toothed bulbs grow in the first year - bulbs, when they are planted the next year, large bulbs are obtained with division into cloves.

Root system in garlic, it is fibrous, consists of a large number of string-shaped roots, which, as they grow, begin to branch and become covered with root hairs. Garlic roots are located on the bottom in circles. Most of the roots are in the arable layer.

When planting garlic of winter varieties in September-October, 3-8 roots are formed, which deepen into the soil by 3-5 cm.The roots do not die off in winter, and when the temperature drops, before the soil freezes, they shrink by 2-3 cm and tighten the stem (bottom) into the soil. This feature is a protective function against freezing. As soon as the soil thaws, the root system continues to grow.

Stem... The bottom of the bulb with a diameter of 2-3 cm and a height of 0.8-1.3 cm is a modified, shortened stem. The bottom is flat with a slight bulge at the top. On the stem, in the axils of the leaves, buds form, and teeth grow from the buds. Roots grow from the bottom side of the bottom. In shooting varieties, an arrow grows from the bottom - an extension of the stem. When the bulb ripens, the stem stiffens.

Arrow woody, thin, twists in some varieties, with a height of 40 to 180 and more. The arrow ends with a kule, spear-shaped inflorescence. When forming air bulbs, it straightens.

Leaves consist of a tubular base and a sheet part of a linear shape. Tubular leaves form a false stem. The color of the leaves varies from light green to dark green, in some varieties with a waxy bloom. Depending on the variety, the width of the leaves is 0.8-2 cm, the length is 15-30 cm. The number of leaves on the plant is 6-12, the mass of the bulb and the number of cloves depend on their number.

Inflorescence - an umbrella, 3-12 cm long, closed with a cap with a proboscis. The inflorescence consists of underdeveloped flowers and aerial bulbs, in the amount of 2 to 500 pieces. The caps (integumentary scales) are strawy, reddish, red or dark purple in color. The flowers are lilac with white or pinkish-white corollas.

Bulb... The bulbs are covered with scales of a white, whitish-ash color with pink or purple hues. In bulbs left in the ground after the onset of biological ripeness, the integumentary scales crack and the teeth are exposed.

The number of cloves in a bulb depends on the characteristics of the variety and varies from 2 to 30 or more. In arrowhead varieties, as a rule, the teeth are located in one circle and are covered with common covering scales. In non-shooting varieties, the teeth are located in several false circles and, in addition to common scales, they also have group scales that wrap 2-5 teeth. The teeth in the outer circle are larger than in the inner one.

In winter varieties, the bulbs are not dense, which significantly reduces their keeping quality. Spring garlic forms dense bulbs that are well stored until the next harvest.

Types of garlic

Before you start growing garlic, you should know what types exist. Today this culture is represented by the following species:

  • winter... This variety has excellent cold resistance and arrow-forming properties. Planting of planting material is carried out in the fall. As a result, the plant hibernates in the ground, and in the next season a large and full-fledged head will sprout. It contains a few aligned teeth. There is also a central trunk in the head, which is not typical for the spring species. Harvest is more suitable for fresh consumption
  • spring... This variety does not form an arrow. Planting of planting material is carried out in the spring. This garlic can be stored for a long period of time. The harvest of this variety is not so abundant.


Use in traditional medicine

The famous medicinal plant, wild garlic, has been used for a long time to combat severe ailments. Some recipes are still used today, albeit in a modified form. Let's consider some of them.

When a runny nose occurs, take 50 g of wild garlic onion. Wrap it in a piece of gauze. After that, the gag is placed in the nose. The secreted sap of the plant has an antimicrobial effect, which contributes to the rapid recovery of the patient.
